As schools break up for the summer holidays, we encourage all parents and carers to speak with their children about staying safe while enjoying their time off. Please remind children to: - Tell a trusted adult where they are going and when they expect to be home.
- Stay with friends and avoid isolated areas.
- Take extra care around rivers, lakes, canals, ponds, and other open water – never swim in unsupervised locations.
- Avoid alcohol and drugs, and never give in to peer pressure.
- Respect local communities and avoid antisocial behaviour.
- Keep mobile phones charged where possible and know who to contact in an emergency.
- Stay safe online and be cautious when communicating with people they do not know.
A few simple conversations can make a big difference. We hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable, and memorable summer holiday. |
